We were this summer on the excursion in Dubai. We visited every possible place, as it is enough cheap. I liked its traditional method of move on the water. They do it on abras, such small boats, where many people can be placed. Our guide showed us museums and traditional villages, like Heritage or Diving villages. I advise you to go here first, as this is the best way to get in touch with Arabic cultures. Dubai is also the only emirate, having Hindu temples.
Another interesting fact is those ruling sheikhs aspire to build the tallest skyskrapers-Emirate Towers. The hotel Burj al-Arab, located on its very own island in the Persian Gulf is currently the tallest hotel in the world. Dubai tends to sky!!! I share his point of view ;).
